How often are School of Style classes held?
School of Style classes are typically held every three months in Los Angeles and every four months in New York. Please check our schedule page for the latest updates. Date announcements are also announced on our Facebook page and via our mailing list. -
Where are School of Style’s classes held?
In Los Angeles classes are held at the world famous Smashbox Studios. The Smashbox Studios location alternates between the West Hollywood and Culver City location. The exact class location will be announced at least 24-hours prior to the classes start. This announcement is made on our locations page and via email to the registered students.
In New York classes are held at the ultra-hip Ace hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Are classes held in cities other than Los Angeles and New York?
Not at this time. We plan to remain exclusive to Los Angeles and in New York City as both cities have a thriving styling industry.

Can I take all of School of Style’s classes in New York?
No. Classes 1 and 2 are the only classes offered in New York City. However, our New York students are welcome to come out to LA to attend Class 3 and Tour of Style.

Can I mix and match Los Angeles and New York classes?
Yes, due to the fact that Class 3 and Tour of Style are not offered in New York, it is common for our east coast students to come to Los Angeles to complete the series.

Do I need experience in the fashion industry prior to attending?
No. Students of all experience levels are welcome to attend School of Style classes. Many of our students have little to no experience in the fashion industry prior to attending our classes.

Can international students attend School of Style?
International students are welcome to attend School of Style classes. We ask that international students consult their local embassy or passport agency but we generally recommend students come to the United States with a tourist visa.

I am coming from out of town, how do I make travel arrangements?
We encourage students to utilize travel websites to find travel arrangements that suit their needs. School of Style does offer travel suggestions for both Los Angeles and New York, which can be found on our locations page.

Are there age requirements for attending School of Style?
No. All ages are welcome at School of Style. Students as young as age 13 and as old as 65 have attended and benefited from School of Style classes.

How much do School of Style classes cost?
The costs of our classes varies, depending on which class or class combination you choose to attend. The cost of our 2-day Class 1 – The Business is $575, Class 2- Styling is $475, Class 3- Portfolio Shoot is $975, and our Tour of Style is $475. We do offer discounts when classes are purchased together.

Do you offer financial aid, loans, grants, or payment plans?
No. School of Style does not offer financial assistance for our workshops. Classes must be paid for in full prior to attending our classes.

Are School of Style’s classes refundable?
School of Style does NOT offer refunds. However, we do offer class credits, which can be redeemed for future School of Style classes. Credits expire one-year after your originally scheduled class date.

Are class dates transferable? Can I cancel my class and use the credit towards a later date?
If you are unable to attend your scheduled School of Style class and need to cancel or reschedule, a written notice must be received one week prior to your scheduled class date. A written notice received after the one-week period will result in a loss of your class credit unless you can provide proof of illness via a doctor’s note, death of a family member, and flight delays with documentation.

Is there a registration deadline for School of Style classes?
Early registration rates end two weeks prior to the class start date. If there are spaces still available, we will gladly accept late registrations. However, all late registrations are subject to a non-refundable $200 late registration fee.

Do you offer a certificate or diploma upon class completion?
Not at this time, as certification is not a tool that is used in the styling field. However, completion of any School of Style class is a great asset to your career and a powerful addition to your resume. All graduates are encouraged to use School of Style as a job reference. We are happy to confirm the details our your training to a third party at any time.

Do you guarantee job placement once I have completed School of Style?
School Of Style does not make any promises in regards to your future employment, however we do make an effort to provide graduates with industry contacts and viable internship and jobs leads after completing Class 1- The Business via our Graduate Mailing List.
Many of our graduates have utilized our exclusive mailing list to gain internships and paying jobs with some of the industries most well-respected and talented working stylists.

Does School of Style have an internship program?
Yes. After completing Class 1 students are automatically added to our Graduate Mailing List, which makes them eligible for an internship with School Of Style, Luke Storey and Lauren Messiah. Job functions will include but are not limited to: returns, pickups, assisting on photo and video shoots, various social marketing tasks, and some light office work. As a School Of Style intern you will gain the necessary hands on experience to start your career and resume as a stylist.
