Behind the Scenes: Yahoo Commercial

This was a really fun shoot for a Yahoo! commercial . We made a fake bedroom in an office building. It’s always surprising to see what the art department can come up with.

Behind the Scenes: Mountain Dew Commercial

Last night we were hanging out in Downtown LA for fashion shows and some good food. Made us think back on this Mountain Dew commercial with monsters that Luke worked on a while back.  We took over downtown LA for an insane all night shoot. Looks pretty awesome doesn’t it?

Behind the Scenes Style: Microsoft Ad

Here are some really cool behind the scenes photos from a Microsoft ad that Luke Storey worked on back in the day.

We were really feeling for the poor male models who had to stand with their arms through the wall for 16 hours straight. Joking, those are totally fake arms (obviously).

Skin.Graft Spring 2010 Show

Tonight we threw on something black, braved the rain, and headed downtown to see the Skin.Graft show. It was sweet; tons of cool leather jackets, garments that were studded and laced,  there were even some birds (fake of course) perched on shoulders making their way down the runway.

Check us out. We’re a little rained on but still looking pretty good ;)

The Sartorialist US Book Tour

Observing street style is key to being a stylist. It’s a great way to find inspiration and to see how real people interpret trends. If you don’t have the luxury of visiting the world’s fashion capitals or the luxury of sitting at a cafe all day to people watch, you should definitely check out The Sartorialist.

thesartorialist_book

The Sartorialist is an amazing blog by Scott Schuman. Scott “just wanted to take photographs of people on the street who looked great.” He recently turned his now famous blog into an amazing book and will be holding book signings all over the US this October.

If you are in LA, like us, Scott will be signing books at The Beverly Center. Here are the details:

Los Angeles CA
Thursday October 22nd
8pm-10pm

The Beverly Center
8500 Beverly Blvd
8th Floor, Outdoor Terrace

See you there!

Day Two Class at Confederacy

This week on another fantastic School of Style Day 2 class, we headed to Confederacy.  Confederacy is a great boutique on Hollywood Boulevard that carries men’s and women’s clothing. The shop opened in October 2008, and is the brainchild of childhood pals actor/DJ Danny Masterson and Ilaria Urbinati – celebrity stylist and former buyer for Satine, Milk, & Laura Urbinati – and in collaboration with their friend, business mogul Aly Mawj.

Well, enough of that history lesson ;) Here we are (Rachna, Luke, Rosa, and Warren):

Favorites from Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

It’s no secret that The School of Style LOVES Alexander McQueen. Everything McQueen does is pure genius and shopping his boutique on Melrose gives us a serious shopping high.  We were just sitting drooling over the looks from his Spring 2010 collection and thought we would share our favorites with you.

The clothes, the shoes, that hair!!  Everything was amazing. Here are our favorites looks:
