Behind the Scenes: Class 3- Day 1 (Feb 2012)

Last weekend we held our epic Class 3 at Smashbox Studios. This group of stylists may have been our best yet (seriously, they were good).  We are still processing the final images but in the mean time, we figured it would be nice to share a couple behind the scenes pics.

These photos are from day 1 of Class 3. During this day of Class 3, students pre-style their looks that will be photographed on day 2. In a nutshell our students have 10 racks of clothes, dozens and dozens of shoes, and 5 tables of accessories at their disposal for an entire day. It’s like styling heaven.

Just had to end the post with the SOS staff actin’ a fool on set!

StyleCaster’s State of Style Summit

Earlier this month we attended a wonderful event in New York that was put on by StyleCaster. It was their State of Style summit, which truly brought “style to the people”. The summit brought together some of the fashion industries brightest to share their knowledge and expertise with hundreds of fashion bloggers, stylists, and the entire online fashion world as the event was live streamed online.

We learned a ton and met some great people throughout the day. The event was wonderful because social media whore-ness was welcomed with open arms. Attendees were tweeting, updating their Facebook status, and snapping pictures during the entire event. We of course snapped away as well, here are few of our favorite photos from the event.

School of Style Meet Up: The Jane in NYC

We are in New York City to participate in some New York Fashion Week kick-off activities and thought, why don’t we have a little impromptu fashion activity of our own? So we decided to invite some of our graduates, current students, and all other lovers of styling that we know to a little happy hour. It was super last-minute, so if you didn’t make it – no worries because there will be many more in the future.

We met up at The Jane in the West Village to talk fashion and have a few cocktails. It was a low-key affair (just the way we like it), tons of fun, and we actually remembered to take a few pictures. Check them out …

Graduate Update: Brandy Joy Smith

We met Brandy back in 2010 when she attended all three (this was before we had all of new classes we have today) of our School of Style classes. Brandy came all the way from Texas to learn from us and we are glad that she did.  Brandy stood out to us then and she certainly stands out today as one of our top graduate success stories.

The last time we got an update with Brandy was in July of 2011. Back then she was already kicking some major butt in the fashion industry. She had styled a Grammy award winning artist for Elle magazine, created and produced how-to styling videos for Tyra Bank’s TypeF.com, and much more.

Today, Brandy has completely blown us away with her latest update! She has just been signed to the Next agency as as stylist in New York City!!! We couldn’t be prouder.
