Last week we knocked out two Class 2’s in one week! That’s a lot of shopping. We visited costume houses, a ton of showrooms in LA, and even saw some creepy little dolls at Skingraft …

What could be better than a day of shopping with three really cool students? We honestly couldn’t tell you because yesterday we had a blast during Class 2 with Chalita, Staci, and Carolyn.  We shopped like stylists all around LA and had a really healthy and delicious lunch at a spot called Flore.

After months and months of planning, our brand new Class 3 Portfolio/Shoot day is officially open to anyone who wants to start building their stylist portfolio.

Our first official Class 3 was Saturday January 30th with students Courtney, Crystal, and Chelsea (we didn’t plan that triple C thing, we promise). What a fantastic class! The students really blew us away with their styling skills.

Take a look at some of our behind the scenes photos and be on the lookout for the students final portfolio pics, as we will be posting some of them on theschoolofstyle.com very soon.

We finally hung up our camera (and SOS assistants less than perfect photography skills) and let a pro come in and do the job for us. After all this was our first Class 1 of 2010.

Take a look at some of the awesome photos that photographer Chris Beyer shot at Smashbox Studios. He captured some sweet snaps of our students getting their learn on and of Luke getting his teach on. OK, I think I’ve reached my 90s slang quota for the day. Just take a look at the photos and check back on TheSchoolofStyle.com for the rest of the photos.

We don’t like to brag or anything like that … but sometimes we do ☺

Location on a semi-secret location on the SOS site is our student testimonials. It’s just a little spot where our grads pour their hearts out about how much they enjoyed our class. We really appreciate the feedback and it just occurred to us that maybe some of you might enjoy hearing what our grads have to say too.

With that being said, here is a small sampling of our student testimonials from our last Class 1 at Smashbox Studios:

“I really feel I learned the “ins and outs” of styling. The class is full of great information on how to establish yourself and what to do on a job. I really appreciated Luke’s candor, which made a full day of information fly by.” — Kathryn L.

“Worth every penny. I learned about the business and the details I wouldn’t know without six months of experience. I will be back for class two and three.” — Jessica L

“I am constantly assisting celebrity stylists at Showroom Seven. So my biggest question was how to approach them to let them know that I am interested in assisting/ interning for them to get as much experience as possible. My other questions were all answered, as I was clueless about budgets and the business side of styling. I am very happy that I took this class!” — Kristie J

“I learned how to tackle a job from start to finish. Luke didn’t miss a detail. I learned the ins and outs, dos and don’ts, which will help me get to where I want to be faster.” — Marissa L

“I’ve never had professional styling experience, so this class allowed me to get a snapshot of the job/business. It provided me an opportunity to learn details/information that is not taught in fashion school but only from years being in the business. This class was great and anyone should take it if they are even considering being in the business.” — Cynthia P.

“I definitely got such a great look at being a wardrobe stylist. Luke was honest and very personable. I am really glad that I took the class and it felt more productive than some of my fashion classes at Orange Coast College. Thank you! Great tips and things to be aware of in the future to benefit me and my career.” — Robin K.

“I love that this class covers so much information in a short amount of time. I’m not in a position to take the time to go to fashion school, but I still want to pursue a job in the fashion industry. I believe I’ll benefit from this class in many ways. I’ll have knowledge in more areas; I can put that class on my resume, etc. Thank you for providing an affordable, tangible way to learn more about this business in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.” — Erica R.

“Wow! So much information, very helpful and handy — I really appreciated what Luke has to teach and his enthusiasm. Worth every dollar.” — Sally A.
