Last month we had an amazing Class 3 with an equal mix of students from Los Angeles and New York. Yes, the New York students traveled all the way across the country to style with us … Yay!

We have been anxiously awaiting the images from the shoot and they are finally here. We are super-proud of all of our students who styled their little butts off. Another batch of talented students who now have the beginning of a styling portfolio.

Last week we kicked off our brand new class, Tour Of Style! During Tour Of Style Luke and Lauren take a small group of students on a tour of Los Angeles costume houses, PR firms, designer showrooms, boutiques, department store studio services offices, and other popular LA stylists’ destinations.  For this first class we took ten students on a spin around LA in a stretch Escalade. We like to ride in style here at SOS.

For those of you who missed the premiere class, don’t fret because we will be holding another one in November. The spaces for this class are extremely limited so don’t wait to sign up. In the mean time, enjoy these spectacular photos that Chris Beyer shot for us.

Earlier this month, stylist to the Kardashian family, Monica Rose dropped by School Of Style’s Class 1 for a visit. Monica took an hour out of her busy schedule to educate and inspire our latest group of students. Monica explained how she got her start as a stylist, what she is working on now, and she also shared some great tips on how to make it in this business. Our students definitely got a reality check from Monica too! Monica explained that being a stylist is not as glamorous as you might think — it’s hard work!!!

We are excited to announce our brand new School Of Style class, Tour Of Style.

During Tour Of Style students will be taken on a comprehensive tour of the premiere Los Angeles costume houses, PR firms, designer showrooms, boutiques, department store studio services offices, and other popular LA stylists’ destinations – in a chauffeured luxury tour van.

During the tour, Luke and Lauren will explain the various stylist policies and protocol in regards to each destination, will demonstrate the art of pulling clothing for a job, and all of the insiders tips and tricks for prepping a styling job.

This is a great opportunity to get a full day of mentorship from Luke and Lauren, an insider’s view of the top industry locations, and perhaps a chance to get a little shopping in too!

Tour Of Style is a specialty class that only takes place a few times a year!

We’re heading off to the Big Apple for our NYC Classes. For everyone who signed up, we will see you this weekend at the Ace Hotel. For those of your who didn’t sign up … there is still time (a short amount of time). Classes start on Saturday, July 16th. Hope to see you in class!!

Class 3 is a two-day portfolio shoot, where students learn how to style their own fashion/editorial shoot. School Of Style will provide all necessary components to produce the photo shoot: studio, photographers, models, hair/makeup artists, prop kit, and clothing.

Last month we had our Class 3 at Smashbox Studios and it was a huge success! It was our first time having a 2-day long Class 3. Day 1, the students got to pre-style their looks and on Day 2, the students shot their looks with a professional photographer, models, and hair/ make-up.

Our next Class 3 is in August … are you gonna be there?

We like to go all out for each one of our School Of Style classes, especially Class 3! For our Portfolio Shoot class we have racks and racks of clothing for our students to style from. On those many racks is a gang of clothes — ranging from fashions from local showrooms to insanely beautiful high-end designer clothing (Lanvin, Maison Martin Margiela, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Givenchy, and the list goes on). We also like to keep our accessory selection on point with more shoes than you can count and 6 foot tables filled with jewelry, belts, hats, and scarves.
