Class in Session: Class 2// June 9th 2010

Class 2 at School Of Style … its always an adventure! This time we hit all of our favorite showrooms, hip boutiques (including one of our faves, Opening Ceremony), and we even discovered a really great lunch spot called Mooi. Mooi is an organic/vegan/raw restaurant that is as adorable as it is delicious. If you are in LA area, you should make a point to stop by and check it out.

Class 3 Portfolio Shoot: May 8th 2010

Last month we had another great Class 3 Portfolio Shoot. In fact, you can read all about it here and here and here. The final images just came back a few days ago and we wanted to share them with you fine SOS blog readers.

Aren’t our students talented? We think so. Our next Class 3 is this coming weekend, on June 11th and 12th. If you are interested in learning more or signing up for Class 3 click here.

How To Video: Pulling Clothes

When you enter stylist land you start hearing crazy phrases like “pulling clothes”. To us it makes perfect sense but to non-stylists we just sound like crazy people. Pulling clothes is basically going shopping for a styling job. Except you aren’t just confined to the mall — you can pull clothes from stores, showrooms, PR firms, etc … We won’t get into the nitty gritty (you have to come to class for that … hehe).  But check out this video! Its 39 seconds of expert advice on pulling clothes that you just can’t miss!

How To Video: Working with Designer Shoes

Working with designer shoes has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, designer shoes are gorgeous and fabulous. The flip side of that is designer shoes are expensive — if you ruin them you are SOL. How do you keep from ruining them? Well for starters, you tape them! Take a look at this great vintage SOS post, it explains in great detail how to do just that.

To learn more about working with designer shoes, watch this short video. In this video Luke Storey explains a thing or two about designer shoes that will save you a lot of money and trouble.

How To Video: Dry Cleaning Borrowed Clothing

One of the most popular questions we get at School Of Style is “do you have to dry clean the clothes after each shoot?” Pretty good question. You are probably wondering the same thing, aren’t you? If you are, watch this awesome (and short) video for the answer.

Behind the Scenes: Coachella Video

Take a look at this spectacular video that our super-awesome video guy, Jimmy Marble whipped up for us. We love it soooo much! We actually can’t stop watching it :)

Behind the Scenes: Ok Go Shoot

The final image

Ever heard of the band Ok Go? I am sure you have, they make THE coolest music videos! Hellooo have you seen the “treadmill video” or their latest video? Highly entertaining stuff. Well a few weeks back we got to style the band for an upcoming editorial. Here are the behind the scenes shots.
