New York Boutique Windows

Every time we visit New York for a class, we just have to go shopping. What kind of stylists would we be if we didn’t? We did some killer bargain shopping (Barney’s Warehouse Sale, Century 21, Scoop’s big sale) and we also did a bit of fantasy shopping too. Some of the stores we hit included; Jeffrey, Atelier, Rick Owens, Chanel, Marni, and more. Below are some photos from our shopping excursion in the big apple.

We’ll be back in NYC for another class and some more shopping!!

We’re Baaacck ….

We are in NYC and loving it!! The last time we came to NYC it was a little shocking. Things were moving too fast, it was hot as shit, plus we were loaded with nervous excitement over our first School Of Style class. This time the vibe is totally different. The weather is perfect, the nervous excitement is gone, and things just rule.

Yesterday was the perfect day to chill out and do a little shopping. Where did we shop? Century 21 of course!! This time we exercised some restraint and didn’t buy the whole store :)

Luke scored a sweet Marc Jacobs army coat. Its warm, stylish, and has a built in hoodie in it for extra warmth. He also got the perfect Jil Sander button down shirt. That shirt will probably makes it first public appearance in class this weekend.

Lauren got the best winter coat ever in life by Vivienne Westwood. She also got a Y-3 puffy winter jacket for those extra cold nights.  Of course the real score was finding the secret designer shoe department on the way out. We only had 15 minutes to shop the section because they were closing. Turns out that was just enough time to get a pair of Dolce & Gabbana patent leather wedges. Yay!

More updates to come …

Shopping Hot Spot: Zainab

Yesterday we discovered a cool new boutique on Melrose called Zainab. For all of you working stylists out there, it’s right near People’s Revolution. It’s actually crazy that we have never been inside considering how often we are in the neighborhood for Class 2. But better late than never …

Zainab’s selection was out of control!! Every rack had amazing pieces and the shoes/ accessories were to die for. We were seriously freaking out at some of the great pieces, including these:

So please, stop reading this post and go shopping :) Oh and if you are out and about on Sept. 10th for Fashion’s Night Out, you should stop by Zainab because they are selling the FNO shirts.

Happy shopping!!

School Of Style Love’s Pretty Pennies

As stylists we are always looking for great new places to shop, both online and out in the wild. We recently came across a really cool site called Pretty Pennies. Pretty Pennies has awesome clothing that won’t cost you more than a few pretty pennies ;) Alright, maybe the clothes cost more than mere pennies but seriously … the clothes are super-hip and very affordable.

Pretty Pennies carries brands like Cheap Monday, BB Dakota, Dolce Vita, RVCA, Wildfox, Joyrich, and more. Since we are awesome we are hooking up our readers with a special 20% off discount. Simply enter “Schoolofstyle’ to receive 20% off of your purchase.

If you need any shopping inspiration, be sure to check out Luke and Lauren’s Pretty Pennies picks …

Class in Session: Class 2// Aug. 4th 2010

Last week we had another exciting Class 2 with Jillian and Brandy (one of our NYC class grads). We zipped all around town and even met up with Lauren at Diavolina on West 3rd Street.

Shopping Domination: Barney’s Warehouse Sale

As stylists, it’s pretty safe to say that we are professionals when it comes to shopping. We know how to tear through racks and we also know how to save some serious cash (paying retail is for the birds). So when we heard about the Barney’s (our favorite store ever in life) Warehouse Sale, we just had to go.

Yesterday was the first day of the sale and we were some of the first people there. The sale started at 8am. We got there at 9am and stayed until 3pm. Yes, you read that properly. We stayed for 6 hours. 6 hours!!!

In that six hours we got thousands and thousands of dollars worth of clothes for 75% off retail. Insane. Some notable purchases include …

Luke’s sweet Dior Homme blazer from the Spring 2010 runway show:

Lauren’s pair of Maison Martin Margiela boots from the Spring 2010 runway show:

Those are just two the things we found! Our bags were FULL. Definitely worth the trip downtown. We also got a tip from one of the little ladies working the sale … The last few days of the sale is when the serious markdowns occur.  So head over to the sale and let us know what you get.

Class in Session: Class 2// July 28th

We had a really fun Class 2 last week. There were only two students as opposed to three this time, which meant Lauren got to come along for the fun. We hit three LA showrooms, a great store called Epic Independent Co-op, Western Costume, Bloomingdale’s Studio Services, and a bunch more fun places!
