NYC Diary Day 5: Madison Avenue

After our class wrapped, which by the way was a HUGE success (more on that in a bit) we did what we do best … shop! We hit NYC hot spots, Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue to shop til we dropped.

The shopping excursion started at Bergdorf Goodman, where Luke scored some major deals. He walked away with a Jil Sander suit, John Varvatos shoes, and John Varvatos black button down shirt — all on sale. More discounts were to be found at Barney’s where Lauren scored big on an amazing pair of Marni flats. After Bergdrofs was window shopping down Madison. We checked out all the window displays of the worlds hottest designer brands; Chanel, Tom Ford, Prada … just to name a few.

All of that walking made us kinda hungry so we hit up Candle 79, a vegetarian restaurant near Park Avenue. Yes, we finally found a healthy place to eat in NYC. The food was amazing but made us amazingly full, which meant walking it off in Central Park. We LAers live for parks and Central Park did not disappoint.

You would think that the shopping stopped there but it didn’t. Sure all the stores were closed but window shopping is always open. Stay tuned for our next post, which has some amazing windows that we shot.

Hooray! We love NYC :)

xoxo,

SOS

NYC Diary Day 2: We Love New York … Shopping!!

So we had a little difficulty adjusting to NYC when we first arrived, then we quickly remembered how awesome New York is. How did we come to this recollection? We went shopping!!!

Yesterday we when to the best store ever in life, Century 21 to do a little shopping. The results were fantastic. In case you aren’t familiar with Century 21, it is a designer discount store. Not just any designer discount store, this is THE designer discount store. The store is freaking huge and in it contains some ridiculous deals. RIDICULOUS!

We were like kids in a candy store. I mean two stylists shopping for designer duds at like 90% off … It’s pretty much the best thing ever.

Luke scored a sweet Marc Jacobs jacket and Lauren scored, well, everything! Lauren got two pairs of pants from Alexander McQueen, two Margiela dresses, an Allesandro dell Aqua shirt, a Coming Soon shirt, a Proenza Schouler dress, a Dolce and Gabbana sweater, and a pair of Rick Owens jeans. Basically it was about $6,000 worth of clothes for a tiny (very tiny) fraction of that price.

We love NYC!

Peace out for now,

Class in Session: Class 2 at SKINGRAFT

Luke and the girls hit the town for another Class 2 date, and found some amazing treasures at SKINGRAFT, as usual.

Here’s Jared Tate Johnson showing of his Jewelry line Dear Raymer. Body jewelry is the new wedding ring!

We loved the rattlesnake rattle necklace by Dax Savage.

More from Dax.

Check the 12 foot foam dress!

Class in Session: Class 2// June 16th 2010

A few pictures from our last Class 2 …

Sara and Kat checking out the amazing samples at PRB in Beverly Hills.

Kat digging the neoprene jacket from Brazil.

Told ya it was just a few …

Thomas Wylde Sample Sale

Here an invite to a cool sample sale that would definitely be worth checking out. Just make sure you go to the sale on June 4th and not the 5th or 6th … Not only will the selection be better but also it won’t interfere with School Of Style Class 1, which is held June 5th and 6th ;)

Class in Session: Class 2/ May 5th 2010

Who needs chips and salsa on Cinco de Mayo when you have styling and shopping? We took a couple of students out for a day of shopping like a stylist last week for Class 2. We hit one of our favorite stores too, Confederacy. And by the way … how perfect are those shoes by Alexander Wang?

ugly underwearQuite possibly the ugliest underwear of ever made. These make this very clear statement to any potential mate: “Do not sleep with me.  You will regret it within 3 minutes or less.”

Don’t Forget Your Tag!

If you want to avoid getting a one-way ticket to the fashion police then always remember this: Take off your studio service tag after you leave the department store!!

Some readers will laugh and know exactly what we mean. Others are sitting at their computers scratching their heads saying “WTF?” If you identify with the “WTF” category then let us explain.

When pulling clothing from a department store you can’t just roll in there like a regular schmo. You have to go through Studio Services. Studio Services is a special land devoted to working with stylists. Part of the Studio Services process includes wearing a gigantic name while you shop for your job. That tag explains to world and the department store employees that you are not a regular person … you are a stylist!

That tag is all fine and good in the store but once you leave — not the best look in the world. Just sayin’.
