School of Style’s Class One is a two-day, classroom style workshop for aspiring stylists. This class focuses on the actual business of fashion and wardrobe styling. Students will learn how the business works, how to get started in the business, and more importantly- how to stay in the business.

During this weekend course, students will be provided with many valuable tools of the trade to help get their career as a wardrobe stylist started.

A comprehensive workbook, water, and light refreshments will be provided to each student. Lunch is not provided, however there will be a one-hour break when students can leave for lunch.

  • An introduction to a career in wardrobe styling

  • Identifying and working on different jobs in the industry

  • How to prep and wrap a styling job

  • Policies, paperwork, and billing as a wardrobe stylist

  • Networking techniques and lessons on building industry contacts

  • How to use your styling kit’s tools and supplies

  • How to build your styling portfolio

  • Building mood and inspiration boards

  • Sample forms needed to run a successful styling business

  • Getting started as an intern, assistant and key stylist

  • Guidelines for continued success after completion of this course

  • Many additional subjects will also be covered

Brandy Joy Smith

This Texas native graduated all the way back in 2010 and has been booking major styling gigs ever since. Now based in Brooklyn, Brandy is working as a freelance stylist signed to Wilhelmina NY. She has worked with the likes of J Cole, Kimbra and Fred Armisen and has been contracted by Elle, Playboy, Hennessy and Nike.
